May post

Since the workshop on the Island I have been to Victoria to visit for the first time The Red Gallery in Victoria where they show my work. Marion and Bobb a very nice couple, they started the gallery a bit over a year ago and have been quiet successful selling painting and representing a nice group of Artist. I am one of the lucky one exhibiting there.

Here is some of my work showing there.

I went to Victoria with my friend Elyse and stayed with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law in a hobby sheep farm that was alot of fun!

I even bought wool from the hobby farm and from those sheep, beautiful wool natural dye. My intention is to knit a sweater for Mark!!! Oups! Unfortunately, I knitted and painted too much lately and I am NOT allowed to paint or knit for three weeks....so here I am blogging instead!

I will be more active with my blog since I am taking a course to improve my blogging!

So that's it for now and see you soon!

Back from of an amazing workshop in Nanaimo!

This last week was challenging, stimulating, encouraging and pushing the limits of our artistic journey. All of that with a dedicated group of 12 artists.Steven Aimone, our facilitator was challenging us through talks and guidance, moving around what we called our individual studio spaces, leading us through our creativity. This workshop was organized by Mary Stewart  a talented artist from Nanaimo. She organizes many different workshops during the year, all very successful.

I mainly painted large but challenged myself with some small ones as well.

Small painting, 10x10 on acrylic canvas

The last day each artist did a presentation to the group of their progress through the week. It was emotional and revealing and we connected with each artist and their artistic evolution.

Spring News!

The month of March has been a busy time organizing different shows for the months to come.

On Sunday I am going to attend a workshop on Vancouver Island run by Steven Aimone. This is the second one that I will take with my friend and artist Sara Morison.

Then with the group of 5enses  we will be exhibiting at Sopa Gallery in Kelowna. The show is called U8. More than 400 paintings will be for sale and every painting will sell for $800 or less. This is a contemporary show with artists from everywhere in Canada and the States. The opening date is April 5th at Sopa Fine Art Gallery and will last two weeks.

Here are some of my works there.

After all of that, excitement will continue to flow with the Second Art Crawl on the North Shore.  This event will take place the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of April when the general public (including all of you!) will be able to visit 80 studios throughout the North Shore.  The 5enses will be at my studio at 997 Forest Hills Dr, and at Mena Martini's studio in West Vancouver, from 11am to 5pm Saturday and Sunday. Please bring your friends and enjoy chatting with the artists. It is a great opportunity to meet the artists in your community, in a very relaxed way and you will see a lot different art and studio where the work is done. FUN!

There will be more happening this Spring, so please stay tuned!

My energy as been devoted also to painting on a new series called Passion. For that series I have  painted on unstretched canvases for the large ones. I really enjoyed the process and the freeness of doing it. The colours that I used in this series bring me happiness in those gloomy days and make me forget the rain and the darkness of Winter.

Here are some of them.....

News from the Kunst Supermarkt in Soleure CH

The Kunst Supermarkt in Switzerland has been a very successful experience for me. I sold 32 paintings in all including a large one. I was very impressed with the organisation and the number of people going to the show. There were about 80 artists all having one or two easel buckets (containers, see the photos below), showing about 25 paintings in an easel bucket at a time. Every night they would put add more paintings to the easel buckets if paintings were sold. People would come and take paintings, look at them walk through the show and decide which one they would buy. It was a very free atmosphere, very relaxed and no one felt pressure to buy. They could leisurely look around and decide what to do. A bit like a Supermarket!!

Soleure is a very quaint town in the Swiss German part of Switzerland. I had a chance to browse through it and enjoy the beauty of the houses and the charm of the street with friends and family who came to the show.

In life you have to take chances.  I did and it worked for me. I have to say thank you to Therese Joseph, a member of the 5enses, who told me about that show. It is nice to be a group of painters who exchange ideas, concepts and encourages to go and participate in different shows.

Hope you enjoy the blog! Please leave comments  I always appreciate feed back.
Also if you want to subscribe you will get an notification as soon as I write a new posting.

It's been a very busy month!

For the last four weeks I have been busy painting with my friend Dorane from Switzerland. She came to paint and get inspired for a new beginning! It's been very successful and a very prolific month for both of us.

Here is one painting I did on unstretched canvas.

During that period I also went with her at the Portico Gallery in Squamish to bring 5 paintings.

Here are some of the works showing at this very nice gallery in Squamish.
